What is Dwellness coaching?

Guided goal setting that's made for you

You're not alone. This program is for parents of children who have environmental illnesses or sensitivity. Asthma, allergy, skin issues, gut issues and behavioural issues are common in kids can can have environmental triggers.

At the same time, this program is your unique wellness journey. This is about your child's recovery, potential issues in your home, and your ability to accomplish changes as the protector and provider.

As your coach, I will work closely with you to set goals that dig in to your specific needs and unique circumstances.

Your child's health is the ultimate goal - we offer stepping stones on your path.

Expert advice that makes it simple

As your coach, my role is to simplify the science of 'what works' and help you make informed decisions that have proven impact for your child's health.

There's plenty of evidence in the scientific literature on topics relevant to your home - to name just a few: dampness in homes, sources of allergens, and epigenetic impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals. While this information is useful to a degree, it is hard to 'digest' and falls short of practical advice.

There are also plenty of differing opinions on internet sources about what you should do to improve your home environment. You've probably run into this problem if you've ever joined a Facebook group on toxic mould!

Cut through the confusion and (well meaning) bad advice that is common online. With your expert coach to guide you, you will avoid costly mistakes and stay on track for success.

Tailored solutions for your home

Each home is unique, including its orientation, construction type, materials and heating / cooling / ventilation systems. Climate, location and history of the site matter, too.

As your coach, I will help you to assess your home environment with these factors your health goals in mind. You will be equipped to identify potential hazards and to select personalised solutions to create a healthier living space. Your child and your whole family will benefit.

Accelerated results

Are you frazzled managing your child's illness? Have you been spending your money on various solutions with little progress or noticeable results?

We understand that you want to use your time and money wisely.

The Dwellness coaching method provides a guided roadmap that assures your success.

Based on your goals, I will support your progression through a 3-step method : (1) Assess your home, (2) Plan what is needed to remedy any hazards, and (3) Take action and evaluate your results.

Simple? Yes - when you have your coach at your side. We'll use Dwellness assessment tools and action plans to see where you can make the biggest impact.

You already know what the alternative is: overwhelm, inertia and lack of results.

When it comes to your child's health, don't delay getting the assistance you need.

Focus and accountability

I really sympathise with what you're dealing with. Your child is unwell and taking on a healthy home project can be time consuming, expensive, confusing and overwhelming. When you're tired and stressed, you progress can stall out even when you're really committed. That's where Dwellness health coaching excels.

I provide you with simple step by step guidance to give you confidence and focus your improvement efforts over time.

Check-ins, goal tracking, and personalised support ensure you accomplish changes and stay motivated. Remember, YOUR CHILD and YOUR GOALS are the focal point of the coaching program and I will ensure these stay front and centre.

With your coach by your side, you've got this.

I thought health coaching was for nutrition and fitness. How is this different?

It's not entirely different. But this is based on environmental health rather than diet and exercise.

Let's explore an analogy.

Imagine if your fitness goal was to get strong in order to be a more energetic parent. In this example, the coach would clarify what the you need,, provide education and programming, and establish accountability. You would 'put in the reps' (take action), seek guidance, and evaluate results with the coach.

It's similar with Dwellness coaching, only your goal is to gain control of your home environment to support your child's health and recovery.

Dwellness coaching will provide the evidence and recommendations for your specific home context, and you would take action in accordance with your goals. We achieve your goals together, so that you don't have to guess at effective solutions, and can save time and money.

Dwellness coaching is a type of health coaching that focusses on changing lifestyle as well as the environment as a pathway to health.

Healthy home coaching is an emerging area of health coaching and is becoming in demand as people better understand how environmental factors including mould, EMF and chemicals impact human health.

My child has asthma or allergies or PANS/PANDAS (or another environmentally acquired illness). Can you help us?

Dwellness serves people who recognise that the environment can impact their child's (and their own) health.

I am not a medical practitioner so it is not my role to diagnose or treat health conditions. Instead, my role is to inform clients about the potential health hazards in their home environment and to assist them to make changes that can reduce exposure.

It is my experience that children who are sensitive to certain environmental triggers are also more sensitive to others - for instance children with mould illness seem to be more sensitive to EMF (electro-magnetic frequencies), fragrances and cleaning chemicals.

If your child has an environmental condition, I would like to hear about your specific concerns, and how any changes you've made have impacted your health. Let's dig into the details together: What triggers your child and what seems to help? What have you tried and what do you need help with? This is what tailored health coaching is all about.

A great way to get comfortable with a decision is to book in for a free consultation.

If I join, how much time will I need to dedicate each week?

Well, it depends!

Think of it like this: there are three ways you'll spend time in the program:

1. the time you spend directly with me, your coach,

2. your self-directed time with program materials, and

3. time you spend taking action to achieve your goals.

Of course, the third area is where we want you to focus your time! You need just enough information and support to get there.

There's no single right answer but for busy people (and we're all busy people!), we suggest something like this:

1. 30 minutes per week with your coach (videoconference or instant messaging - it's your choice)

2. 20 minutes per week on program materials (like reading an information sheet, filling out a goals template or watching the weekly short video)

3. Two to four hours per week taking positive actions towards your goals (for instance, cleaning
clutter, shopping for healthy cleaning products or calling technicians for bigger-than-DIY jobs).

This might be similar to what you'd dedicate to a fitness transformation.

Regarding time commitment, its important to remember: practice, not perfect (healthy homes are a life-long lifestyle), every little step counts, and put your time where your value is.

Because what's the alternative?

Am I guaranteed a healthy home in 12 weeks?

Let's go back to the fitness coaching example. In 12 weeks, you can be expected to gain knowledge, take guided action and feel proud of the results you've achieved (perhaps toned biceps or a slimmer waist).

You will, hopefully, also gain new habits and perspective with the motivation to keep going with other improvements.

Healthy home coaching is similar. Possibly all of your home projects won't be fully accomplished in 12 weeks, but you'll take definitive steps and see results to know you're on the right track. You'll gain the knowledge and confidence to keep going on your own.

Before you graduate from the program, you'll have a plan in place to make a healthy home part of your lifestyle.
